Hello,
Friends. This is Carol writting. Kristi did such a great job with the last two
posts, it's going to be hard to follow her!
Leaving Massachutes after working
with the church family at Friendship Baptist Church, we began our trip to
Acadia National Park in upper Maine. It
was such a good trip. So enjoyed the little harbors of the coast of Maine,
dotted with fishing boats and sail boats.
We arrived at Acadia National Park mid afternoon. The site was a beautiful
wooded pull-through. No backing in
:) Just relaxed that evening with a
campfire, roasted marshmellows and of course our nightly game of Rummikub.
The
next day Kristi and I headed to Cadilac Mountain (1,500 ft), the best place to
view all of the park and surrounding islands. The road was very curvy and no
side rails. Well, they did place some rocks there to keep you on the road. The
view from the top was breath-taking and very windy. I'm sure the winds were hurricane
force! You can see from the
pictures! Then down to the town of Bar
Harbor. Kristi and I had fun going in
the little shops and walking down to the harbor. We ate at an amazingly
delicious little place away from the "tourist resturants". I had a fresh hadock sandwich and Kristi had
a Rubein Sandwich. They were delicious
but the fries were the best ever!!!!
Neither of us could finish them.
But I did manage a scoop of home-made Maine wild blueberry ice
cream. Such an intense taste!!!
I think
our trip along the coastline of the park the next day was the highlight for me. The waves washing in on the rocks
was just so beautiful and the views ....words just can't describe. Take time to
look at our pictures. They don't even do it justice.
We ended
up in Bar Harbor again. We just had to
take Bob back to Alderman's Grill and Deli. This time Kristi and I got a
Lobster Roll, Bob got the clam chowder.
We'd talked so much about the French Fries, he ordered his own. To top off our meal, the owner came out and
talked with us the whole time we ate. He
had us laughing so hard, we could hardly eat. His night-time job should be a comedian.
Another
day we drove up the coast to view some of the little harbor towns. Just love seeing the country side, the styles of homes, the boats
and the brillent colors of their flowers. They were in full bloom.
Bob and
I went to a quaint little resturant, "The Upper Deck" on our date
night, well it was actually for lunch.
The food was wonderful and the view amazing. Afterwards, we window shopped the little town
of Southwest Harbor. Found a little
bakery and bought a fresh loaf of 7 grain bread.
Our time
a Acadia was such a blessing....of beauty and of rest, preparing us for our
summer serving with Ann Brack Lawrence, at Maine's conference center....but
that's our next blog, so won't go any
furher.
Hope you enjoy the pictures. Wish you could have been with us! Missing you all.
