Georgia....Georgia....(can you hear me singing?)

WOW was it a whirlwind to get off, to actually begin this journey.  We were down to the last day, washing and preparing the final packing and purging.  Thankfully, God was with us and it all went pretty smoothly.  Oh and a special shout out to Zackary and Holden for helping me wash the RV, that is a huge job, but with the three of us, it all went well. Mom was detailing and prepping the inside for the travels and Cyndi was getting the awning all shinny and white again...amazing what a little bleach water can do :).

We officially arrived in sweet, relaxed, good ole Guyton, Georgia, 20 days ago.  As most of you know, the Savannah Baptist Assembly is where we started our last journey, so it was only fitting for it to be our first stop on this journey too. We have come to love it here. With this being our third trip here to come along side of Kevin, the Director of the assembly, we have joined in praying over the grounds, cleaning, and preparing the grounds and buildings for  summer camps.  If you have a minute, you can find them on Facebook or online at ?????

When you arrive, you immediately feel something special.  It's a peace, a calm, a retreat feel.  As Kevin says, the assembly is a place for rest, renewal, and restoration. If you are here for more than a day or two, you will certainly find all three.  It is a place to "get quiet" and spend time alone with God.  A place to slow down and rest, which I'm thinking it's pretty safe to say we could all use some alone time with God and some rest in our lives.

The Savannah Baptist Assembly is a very special place. There is nothing like waking up and going out to one of the picnic areas to spend your morning quiet time, or walking through the fields. You may even catch a glimpse of a deer or maybe some wild turkeys.  If you are here at the right time of the year you might even get a pecan or two, if you beat the squirrels to them.

As I mentioned before, this is our third visit. Two as we already talked about and the other was with our home church, who has partnered with the assembly.  This past March a team was put together and we came for a week long work retreat.  We worked during the day, and  had Bible study at night...what a great experience.  If you are interested in joining in next year, contact FBC Salt Springs and join us for next year's work retreat.

I can't believe we have already been here 20 days!  We have been super busy preparing the grounds for the camps that will be going on here this summer.  The assembly is 44 acres, but sure glad we only had to get the front ready, 44 acres is a whole lot of space to keep up.  We have loaded and unloaded 11 (so far) trailer loads of limbs that have fallen or been trimmed off of trees that have been pruned or vines pulled.  I'm thinking it is a never ending battle!

Between camps we help lighten the load of the volunteers by coming along side them in helping clean the cabins.  Cyndi has been given the privilege of vacuuming the gigantic pool each week, and a superb job she is doing, it's crystal clear and quite refreshing for the occasional dip we get to take between camps.  They have had 3 camps go through already and excited over the number of children that have passed through and have heard the gospel proclaimed and seeds being planted.  Praying for God to open eyes and open hearts.

Oh and how could I forget, Shelby (Cyndi's granddaughter).  She was with us for the first portion of our time here.  I laughed in the beginning of the week asking them what were they thinking, our first week in the RV with the 4 of us and the two dogs and they plan for Shelby to be with us too.  But hind sight, it was brilliant, because when she went home we felt like we now had all this extra space. LOL  Which is a complete joke since there isn't a single iota of space, much less extra in that RV...LOL  So anyways, Shelby wanted to spend some time with us before we left for our trip and we were glad to have her with us.  Wow, has she got some energy!  She was for the most part out there working right by our side...she did take a few extra breaks for lizard chasing and water retrieving, but she was a real trooper as we were working...then the minute there was free time...she wanted to be in the pool...it was really a great visit with her, she is growing so fast.  Momma and Dad took her back to Atlanta and was able to enjoy a few days with Shannon and Mike before we depart.  Good times were had by all - especially with Shannon being the amazing cook that she is and the trip to the lake.

Our time here is already on the down side and we have a break between camps.  Property is still being maintained, grass still being mowed and trees still dropping limbs, Kevin's work here is a constant turn around with things needing to get done.  I am just so thankful for the opportunity God has given us to come along side and help in the process.

We will be here at the assembly until around the 11th of July (after my nephew's wedding back in Ocala) then we will be heading out on the second leg of the trip.  Still tweaking it and finalizing some plans and stays, but it is getting there.  We will talk more about that in the coming posts.

THE NATURE HERE AT THE ASSEMBLY IS UNBELIEVABLE!

Passion Flower

Super cool mushrooms
growing out the side of
the tree

And this is the beautiful flower
about the size of a dime.  Isn't
God great, He created this so
intricate and beautiful, and only
the size of a dime, you would
completely miss it, but He still
took the time to create it to bring
Him glory!

If you look really close...You will see the tiny flowers

"And God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on earth." and it was so.  The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind.  And God saw that it was good."  Genesis 1:11-12

I have attached a resent prayer walk guide that was used in preparation
for this summers camps, campers and staff.
Would you join us in prayer~
